What makes Thatch Turf different?

We treat turf as a design problem, not a product drop. Every project starts with a custom layout for your specific yard — grade, drainage, sightlines, and how you actually use the space — then gets installed by our own certified crews rather than subcontracted labor. We use only premium, non-toxic synthetic grass built to hold up to Colorado UV exposure at altitude.

Is turf a good option for Boulder homes?

Accepted Answer

Boulder is close to an ideal case. Front Range water restrictions, semi-arid summers, and a short growing season make natural lawns expensive and inconsistent to maintain. Our systems are built on a permeable base that handles snowmelt and afternoon thunderstorms, and the blades are UV-stabilized for the stronger sunlight at 5,300 feet, so the color holds year after year.

How does turf save water?

A natural Front Range lawn needs roughly 25,000 gallons per season to stay green. Turf needs none of it. The only water it ever sees is an occasional rinse. Across our installations that adds up to more than 1.5 million gallons kept in Colorado's watershed — with no fertilizer or herbicide runoff.

Is your turf safe for kids and pets?

Yes. Our turf is 100% chemical-free, lead-free, and non-toxic. There are no pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers involved at any stage, so there is nothing for kids or pets to track inside. For dog owners we install a specialized pet base layer that drains quickly and prevents odor buildup.

How much upkeep is required?

Close to none. No mowing, watering, seeding, aerating, or fertilizing. Most homeowners rinse it occasionally and run a leaf blower over it in the fall. Snow melts and drains straight through the permeable base — no shoveling required, and no muddy spring thaw.
